I

am pleased to announce that Singularity exceeded my expectations by far. I thought the idea behind Singularity was great, but it lacked in advertising. Many of my friends wouldn't have known it existed if it weren't for me. This game is not only great, but it is also very original by using time as a weapon and tool. Brilliant!

First off, the biggest part of this game is the Time Manipulation Device, or TMD for short. The TMD fits on your wrist and is used for anything from aging enemies to dust to repairing broken bridges so that you can access otherwise unreachable locations. You can upgrade the TMD, as well as your weapons, as the game progresses, which is amazing because that thing blows you away when you first get it!

singularity2 (17K) As for the plot, you are Captain Nate Renko. You are going to the island known as Katorga-12 with your partner Devlin via helicopter to investigate the radiation emissions from the island. When you get there, you start learning what REALLY happened there, piece by piece. That is, if you can survive.

The game does a great job of mixing in survival horror with an FPS. Also, the puzzles are pretty simple and reused, but you might feel like a genius the first time you solve a certain puzzle in a small amount of time. I won't ruin this puzzle for you brilliant gamers, but I will say it involves opening a gate that is only opened enough for someone to crawl under. Too bad you can't go prone in this game.

In the end, having only played the game a good number of hours, I must say that I am loving it! The game has nine levels and each of them are pretty long. At least they are if you explore the entire area like I do. And rest assured, you do get rewarded for exploration. You can find weapons, ammo, currency to upgrade weapons and your TMD, and more!

I look forward to playing the game more today and hopefully finishing the campaign. Then, I'll move onto the multiplayer. For a deeper look into the game, please check back for the full review of Singularity within 30 days here on GoozerNation!
