On Friday, Canadian porn model Isabelle Lagace’s lawyer announced that she will plead guilty in Sydney’s Local Court to bringing in 95kg and $31 million worth of cocaine into Australia through the Sea Princess cruise ship.

Another woman accused of this, Melina Roberge, has pleaded not guilty to the act, while another French Canadian man, Andre Famine, waived his right to a committal hearing and not entered a plea, waiting to stand trial next year in the NSW District Court, set for February 3, 2017.

    About Lagace

Lagace, 28, who comes from Quebec, sat next to Roberge at the hearing, as both of them held tissues to their tears. Roberge, wearing white, and Lagace, wearing red, sat next to Famine, wearing a green jumper, who sat silently next to them, avoiding eye contact.

Lagace was supposedly holidaying on the Sea Princess cruise ship when US and Australian police co-ordinated a tracking operation, leading them to discover an alleged 35 kilograms of cocaine in her cabin after the ship docked in Sydney Harbor.

Lagace’s activity on social media has shown her enjoying her time until the police became involved. According to police, she was identified by the US border control agencies of Canada as a high-risk traveller and was suspected for involvement in a bigger drug trafficking cartel internationally. Lagace had formerly worked as a porn star, starring in adult and erotic videos.

Several videos have been released online in relation to the trial, including Lagace’s appearance at the Sydney Central Local Court, from Silverwater women’s jail, where she appeared wearing a dark green prison jumpsuit.

The maximum penalty for the charge Lagace has received is life imprisonment. She is set to be sentenced next year
