University Of California Come Up With Unique Study
Chemists from the University of California have found a way in which they can “unboil” egg whites. If the research is successful then cancer treatment costs, food production and other segments of the $160 billion global biotechnology industry can all come down. Gregory Weiss, UCI professor of chemistry and molecular biology & biochemistry and a part of the study had earlier tried to recycle or produce valuable molecular proteins. They had previously failed and the proteins had “misfold” into structurally incorrect shapes when they are formed, rendering them totally and absolutely useless.
Similarity Between Egg White And Human Body Proteins
Talking about his find, Weiss said, “Yes, we have invented a way to unboil a hen egg. In our paper, we describe a device for pulling apart tangled proteins and allowing them to refold. We start with egg whites boiled for 20 minutes at 90 degrees Celsius and return a key protein in the egg to working order.” According to chemists, the proteins present in the human body are like the raw egg whites and when cancer strikes, these proteins form into hard, plastic-y egg white. The find may help one to reverse the process and bring the proteins back to its original form in cancer stricken people. The researchers said that there are gummy proteins that stick to the test tubes and which takes time to scrap off.
New Methods Is Faster And Easier
Of course, it is not that there was no method that can be an equivalent of this earlier on. However, they are time-consuming and expensive. The older method can take up to 4 days while this new process can be done and finished in only a few minutes.
