Crysis was one of those games that showed gamers what a proper FPS could be. Years later people still talk about the game and use it to benchmark other games. Crysis 2 was a fun game and the multiplayer was fantastic. But where can Crysis 3 go from here? Is it possible to surpass the original?
It is hard to talk about hardcore PC gaming without the Crysis franchise popping up here and there. While the gameplay mechanics of the seminal shooter may be somewhat hit or miss, one thing certainly remains true: it is goddamn beautiful. Each iteration in the franchise has exponentially raised the bar for visual fidelity in games and this remains true with Crytek’s recent release of Crysis 3. Too bad they didn’t spend as much time developing the game engine as they did their art assets.
