After failing her drugs test, Maria Sharapova was banned from professional Tennis by the WTA for 15 months and subsequently relegated to the sidelines.

Upon Sharapova’s return, fitness has been the most challenging obstacle for her.

Amid controversy, the Russian never abandoned hope of returning to the court one day and returned she did, with a win over Aryna Sablaenka to secure victory at the Tianjin Open.

The last time the Russian Woman won a title was in May 2015, her victory over the young Belarusian Sablaenka saw her climb up to 57 TH place in world Tennis rankings.
