They may be rumoured to be the ones intending to leave first, but Prince William and Kate Middleton have been the first to arrive for Christmas celebrations with the senior royals.
Cute as a button Prince George could also be seen sitting in the back of a Range Rover with his mum Kate, while his father drove them, and Prince Harry to an early Christmas celebration at Buckingham Palace. Little George could be seen wearing a £90 navy blue Redwink coat from children’s boutique Kensington, which is known to be a favourite of the Duchess of Cambridge.
Princess Charlotte was sure to be there too and royal observers say they spotted her to the left of her mum. Zara Tindall, who is expecting her second child, recycled a silver dress she wore to the same event last year.
Princess Beatrice will be hoping to put her terrible year behind her, after breaking up with her long term partner Dave Clarke in the summer. She still managed to give crowds a cheery wave as she was griven through the gates of the palace with her sister Princess Eugenie.
Princess Anne was escorted by her husband, Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, while Prince Charles and wife Camilla looked like they had deliberately matched their blue checked jackets.
The annual pre-Christmas lunch has become a yearly royal tradition, allowing the Queen to meet distant relations before a more intimate family lunch at Sandringham on Christmas Day itself. It is understood that Prince William and Kate will be having breakfast at Sandringham before heading off before Christmas lunch is served so they can spend some time with her parents, the Middletons.
However, Prince Harry’s new girlfriend Meghan Markle will not be attending either event. It is thought to be too soon in their relationship for her to secure an invite from the Queen.
