Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that Alexis Sanchez has not handed in a transfer request.
Alexis Sanchez is on the radar of top clubs like Manchester City and Bayern Munich this summer as they seek to prize him away from the English Premier League giants.
Wenger revealed during an interview that Sanchez has not indicated any desire to leave the club. He made the revelation at the club’s press conference in Sydney where Sanchez was visibly absent due to his extended break for participating at the Confederations Cup.
Wenger further revealed that he will not sell Sanchez to a rival Premier League side.
“It’s a continuity of what I announced at the end of the season,” Wenger said.
Sanchez will be out of contract in 2018 and Wenger believes the Chilean striker will stay back at the club after that period.
“It is always easier to manage players that are in their final contract year because they are more inclined to do better and give their best to their teams,” he said.
A New Contract On The Cards
“There is no one that knows of Alexis Sanchez will see out the final year of his contract with us because he could extend his contract with us at the start of next season or just before the end of the season.”
“It doesn’t mean that this is the last year that he will be playing with Arsenal.”
Alexis Sanchez joined Arsenal from Barcelona three years ago and was the third highest goal scorer in the 2016/2017 season.
