Kante Sets Social Media Alight

Social media was set alight last night after Chelsea fans came after critics who claimed N’golo Kante would be exposed in Europe in the Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid. As at the timing of filing this report, online chatter about “Kante” was in the region of “24,000”.

From start to finish, N’golo Kante was all over the pitch, the midfield trio of Cesc Fabregas, Bakayoko and Kante proved to be a thorn in Atletico’s flesh. Quite frankly, I believe Atletico was below par in their performance as they were eclipsed by Kante’s performance and versatility.

Kante made breaking from the midfield to the flanks seem like child’s play, apparently enjoying the free role given to him by Conte, he was everywhere. At a point in the match, the commentator called him “the human dynamo” when he took on Lucas Hernandez and Koke down the left flank in the opposing team’s half. Kante made a total of 5 tackles, 1interception, four take-ups on, three blocks with 87% pass accuracy.

He singlehandedly engineered the final goal by threading a pass through to Marcos Alonso, who created an assist for the master of late goals and hero of Chelsea Michy Batshuayi.

Fans Agog On Social Media

Fans were so ecstatic of Kante’s form on social media, equally critical of critics, calling out critics of Kante who said Kante was going to be undone at Madrid, some fans went as far as creating odd memes to criticise the critics. “Bring on Manchester City,” a fan said. Some fans went as far as saying “when it comes to Kante, don’t send one player, don’t send two players, send the whole squad.”

Antonio Conte was happy with the win as he noted it was difficult to come to Spain and win Atletico Madrid at home. Chelsea, last night, became the second European side to beat Atletico Madrid at home after Benfica in a decade and the first team to score in their brand new Wanda Metropolitano stadium, with goals from Morata and the “Batman” Batshuayi.
