Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has issued a warning to new signing Romelu Lukaku regarding the extra scrutiny that he would receive for playing with the club.
Lukaku joined Manchester United for 75 million pounds after snubbing a last minute deal from Chelsea.
But it didn’t take long for the media to be up in arms after he failed to score in the team’s preseason game against LA Galaxy.
Lukaku will score more Goals
However, Ryan Giggs believes Lukaku will definitely score a lot of goals for the club but believes he needs the whole team’s support.
“It does have to be only Lukaku, other players need to step up and get in on the act,” Giggs said in an interview with Press Association Sport.
Other players can score too
“Juan Mata always gets to double figures for the team and the likes of Anthony Martial, Rashford, Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, because there is no doubt that Lukaku will score goals.”
“Last year the team relied on Zlatan Ibrahimovic but things need to change this season.”
“Lukaku has experience playing in the English Premier League and has scored over 20 goals in the last few seasons. So I’m sure he will do the same with Manchester United. But he will face a lot of scrutinies especially because he didn’t score in his first game.”
“He will face a lot of pressure than he has ever seen. But if he can shrug it up then he will definitely be a success at Manchester United.”
“Players don’t get a lot of room at Manchester United because teams defend harder when they come to Old Trafford. But the team is always attacking so he will get more opportunities to score than he did at his previous clubs”.
Lukaku scored his first Manchester United goal in their friendly game against Real Salt Lake.
