The Men’s number one seeded player, Rafael Nadal, has advanced to the final of the US Open after defeating Juan Martin del Potro in the semi final.
Rafael Nadal’s got 9 games in a row as he ended the game 4-6 6-0 6-3 6-2 to advance to the second semi-final. This means he would get a chance to win his 16th Grand slam and 3rd US Open title.
Nadal Set To Face Anderson
Nadal will now match up against Anderson who defeated Pablo Carreno Busta 4-6 7-5 6-3 6-4 to book a spot in the final.
Anderson who is ranked 32nd in the world has made history as he is the lowest ranked player to get to the final of a major’s final since in 1973.
“This victory means a lot to me,” Nadal said. “The season has been great in spite of the injuries that I have had to deal with”
“It also feels great to be back in front of this great crowd and to get a chance to win another title is vital to me.”
Nadal lost out in the semi-final of a Grand Slam 8 years ago to Del Potro and he was determined to make sure that didn’t happen again.
Nadal was in fine form all through the game as he took the game to his rival right from the onset and his effort paid off.
