Suspect Shot Dead in Pennsylvania State Trooper Murder Case

The suspected killer of Pennsylvania State Trooper Landon Weaver, 23, has been shot dead.

Weaver was killed while investigating a call stating that her son had violated a protection from abuse order.  When he investigated the call alone, he was shot dead by Jason Michael Robinson, 32.  He was wearing a purple wig and had posted on Facebook a week earlier, “F**K THE POLICE!!! The only good cop is a dead cop.”

Weave was new to the job and recently married when he was killed a week before Christmas.  He is the 97th state trooper to be killed in the line of duty since 1905.

Weaver died of his wounds and an all-night manhunt ensued to try and find his killer.  At the time they were unsure if Robinson was still at his mother’s home.

Almost a 100 troopers, FBI agents, and other agencies were used in the search.  They posted roadblocks and searched residencies.

Robinson was found shortly after daybreak in a mobile home near where Weaver had died.  He refused to surrender and issued threats before he was shot dead.  He had a history of petty crimes up to that point.

Captain David Cain of the Pennsylvania state police said, “When confronted by the troopers, the armed suspect failed to obey commands and made an overt threat toward the troopers.

“Faced with a deadly situation, troopers were forced to discharge their weapons, resulting in the suspect being fatally wounded.”

Cain would not answer questions on why Weaver attended the call alone, or who else was in the house when he died, simply saying that the situation was being investigated.

Weave was a popular and well thought of officer, and condolences poured in through Facebook and other social media sites.

Governor Wolf said Weaver “will always be remembered for his bravery, his sacrifice, and his willingness to serve.”
